About Us
The power of art...
...regardless of medium or size, is the strength of the connection we form with it. The way it can tug at your memories and emotions, and the delight and amazement that such things of passion, beauty, depth and power can come from human hearts, minds, and hands.
Though our work is on a smaller scale, and not what you may first think of as fine art, that feeling – that connection – is what our glass gems, charms, barrels and pendants bring to the everyday lives of our collectors.
It’s been our privilege and great pleasure to watch that connection form and then watch a new collector walk away wearing their miniature masterpiece on their fingers, around their wrists, or over their hearts where they can reconnect with every glance and caress.

Jen Pitts
It took more than 30 years for Jen to find molten glass, but less than 30 minutes to fall in love with it. Prior to choosing the path of an Artist and Entrepreneur she was a Disc Jockey, Technical Writer, Computer Instructor, IT Director and a Marine.
In 2008 Jen and her husband John leased a large space for the Velvet Box Art Glass studio in Berea, Ohio, where they produce glass for the add-a-bead line and use in one of a kind jewelry and sculptures, teach lampworking and fusing classes, and have a small gallery showing work from a variety of local Artists.
Jen fell in love with art glass for its unique, versatile appeal. “I remember that first session in the flame vividly – I had intended to focus on the basics – just make a round bead, you know? But I couldn’t do it! I rolled that bead in frit, painted it with stringer, put dots on it, poked it, pinched it, and swirled it. The experience was absolutely amazing and the bead wasn’t half bad either!”
Jen is inspired by nature, art and fashion. Her beads take all forms and sizes but she especially enjoys creating complex “beadscapes” and sculptures by incorporating multiple layers of transparent and opaque glass, metal leaf and enamels.

John Pitts
John is a talented artist with excellent conceptual and drawing skills, which he puts to good use for our line of fused glass and R&D for silver and glass design. He is also a skilled metal smith, coring all of our beads and producing gorgeous silver, gold, brass, and copper beads, pendants, and findings we use for our jewelry line. But even more important than that, John is the rock, the touchstone for Jen and the studio. He literally builds the framework and holds us together with his steady, level-headed, caring strength.
